World famous as an art community from a century ago, Laguna Beach continues in its rich tradition as the home of the Laguna Art Museum and as host of the Pageant of the Masters annual summer art show. This distinctive show features recreations of legendary artwork using live models. The Festival of the Arts showcases juried artwork by more than 100 Orange County contributing artists and with its perfect weather, the outdoor Sawdust Art Festival showcases works by artisans and finely-crafted pieces throughout the summer. The Plein Air Painting Invitation rounds out the art year in October with landscape paintings, public artist events and educational opportunities.
Founded in 1920, the century-old Laguna Playhouse is the oldest “continuously running” playhouse and theatre on the west cost of the US. Its professional stage productions on the Moulton Theater stage and its Youth Theatre program offer a home for both masters and novices. Finally, the Irvine Bowl amphitheater, seating 2600, offers outdoor concerts and hosts the Pageant of the Masters.
Lastly, Laguna Beach hosts a Summer Concert in the Park series and an annual winter festival, and the city is home to the Bluewater Music Festival and Kelpfest, an Earth Day event promoting ocean habitat awareness.
